The Associate Fellow (AF) Committee is launching a new educational series within their regular meeting schedule. This quarterly series will invite surgeons with leadership, management, or clinical expertise to share their tips and tricks. The interview, conducted by Christine Chung, DO, AF Professional Development Sub-Committee lead, will be held during the first 10 to 15 minutes of the Associate Fellow Committee meeting. Topics planned for 2022 include professional development, leadership, advocacy, surgical tips/tricks, and techniques. If you are an Associate Fellow Member, we invite you to join our meetings and, if interested, join the Associate Fellow Committee. Please send an email to RASnews@facs.org. The American College of Surgeons Women in Surgery Committee is pleased to announce the call for nominations for the annual Dr. Mary Edwards Walker Inspiring Women in Surgery Award. The award will be presented during Clinical Congress 2022 in recognition of an individual’s significant contributions to the advancement of women in the field of surgery.

The American College of Surgeons History and Archives Committee (HAC) is seeking candidates to fill several vacancies on the committee beginning in October 2022.
The mission of the HAC is to advance, promote, sustain, and expand the recognition, appreciation, presentation, preservation, and study of American surgical history; to stimulate and facilitate research and other scholarly activities on this subject; to enhance our resources for this endeavor; and to incorporate the study and appreciation of surgical history into the surgical curriculum and its application to future goals.
Surgeons interested in advancing and promoting the study of surgical history should apply. Those who have demonstrated experience in the writing of surgical history, or of participating in ACS history-related events, are particularly encouraged to apply.

The College has awarded Resident Research Scholarships to six individuals for 2022–2024. The scholarships are offered to encourage residents pursuing careers in academic surgery. This award offers $30,000 for each of 2 years, beginning July 1, and they are supported by the ACS Scholarship Endowment Fund.
